Privacy Policy — SO

SO is a voice-call and chat app with AI characters. This page explains honestly what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how you control it. The Arabic version (privacy.md) is the reference text.

1. What we collect

We do not collect your contacts, location or photos.

2. How it is processed

• Live voice and conversation are processed by ElevenLabs (speech recognition, voice generation, running the character), which keeps a copy of the recording and transcript.
• Server and storage are on Cloudflare (transcripts, memory, audio recordings, balance).
• Understanding and replying go through an LLM provider (OpenAI or Anthropic depending on configuration), which receives the conversation text and your memory to generate the reply.
• Payments go through Apple.

These are service providers working on our behalf. We do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone outside these providers, unless the law requires it. Data may be processed on servers outside Saudi Arabia.

3. Recording and retention

• Every call and every text chat is recorded and kept as audio and text, to improve service quality (reviewing bugs, character quality and safety) and to personalize your experience (character memory).
• Duration: kept until you delete your account or your data. No other time limit.
• Deleting removes it from our servers, and we send a deletion request for the copy held by ElevenLabs. Deletion completes within 30 days.
• We do not use your voice to train voice models or to clone your voice.

4. Your controls

From Settings → Privacy in the app:

• Turn memory off: the character stops using your memory in chats. (Your chat history stays stored under section 3 until you delete it.)
• Clear memory: deletes the summaries and extracted facts.
• Download my data: a text copy of your memory and chat history.
• Delete account and all data: deletes the account, device ID, memory, recordings, transcripts and balance. It cannot be undone. Also available for guests (delete device data).
• For any other request (correction, objection, complaint): support@thesoapp.com. We reply within 7 days.

5. Age

The app is for people 17 and older; "Late-night talks" is for 18 and older with a signed-in account and birth year. If we learn of an account below that age, we delete it.

6. Security

Connections are encrypted, access to recordings is limited to a small team for quality and safety purposes, and provider keys never leave our servers. No system is 100% secure, and we will notify you if an incident affects your data.

7. Changes

For any material change we show a notice in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
